Corporate Emotional Intelligence Leadership Program

What is Emotional Intelligence and Why is it Important?
Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a person’s ability to assess and manage one’s own emotions as well as the emotions of others. The development of EI based competencies serves as the foundation for enhancing individual qualities such as self-confidence, resilience, and accurate perceptions of personal strengths and weaknesses. EI applies positive psychology to the work place to develop and improve the four major social characteristics of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.

Recent research has proven that EI is a better leadership measurable and better predictor of job related performance than IQ alone. The following outline will describe the process we use to enhance leadership behavior using a combined protocol that embraces the new advances made in positive psychology and EI.

How each PdEI Group Process Works
Unlike any other corporate program, the PdEI program follows and ISO process and protocol to ensure that the information and behaviors learned during the program will positively transfer to each member’s personal and professional life. Each PdEI group consists of nine members, all working at the same professional level and all in non-competing industries. Every PdEI group meets once a month, beginning promptly at three o’clock p.m. Each PdEI group meets for nine months, beginning in September, for a two year period. Each year ends with a two day retreat that enhances the relationships of the group members and allows members to continue practicing and developing their core EI skills. The structure of each meeting, designed to capitalize on years of psychological research in the most effective behaviors of leaders, follows explicit guidelines that shape the rules for sharing personal and business issues in a safe and supportive environment.

All PdEI groups begin with an agreement of total confidentiality and all adhere to a social protocol that everyone follows. Each group will be led by a certified moderator, skilled in the PdEI protocol. To accelerate the learning process, each month, one group member serves as the host of the meeting and shares his or her biggest obstacle that he or she is dealing with at that time. The host is prepped by the moderator prior to presenting. The moderator helps the host look deep into his or her presentation topic and assists in creating a presentation that accurately depicts the host’s biggest obstacle, either personally or professionally. Following each meeting, all group members attend a self-pay, private dinner; a critical component in building bonds between the group members.

The PdEI protocol trains all members how to actively listen, how to ask questions, and how to support and empathize with the speaker. All members are taught to never give advice, but only share similar experiences. Everyone is committed to serve the other’s best interests. After completing the program, all members leave their PdEI group with new EI skills that will make them stand out as truly effective leaders. It is the supportive skills learned that motivates PdEI improvement, and it is the total immersion in the PdEI protocol, at every meeting, that teaches the habits of EI.
